What is a Canadian Study Permit?
A Canadian study permit permits foreign nationals to study at any designated learning institution (DLI) across the country. To study in Canada, international students candidates need to obtain a letter of acceptance from the DLI that they wish to attend, which, when received, permits the student to apply for a Canadian student visa.
Canadian Student Visa: Student Direct Stream Program
Student Direct Stream (SDS) is Canada’s fast-track access to study in Canada. If your application meets all the below requirements and does not have any inadmissibility concerns, the application process can generally take 20 days.
Canadian Student Visa: Regular Study Permit Stream
The Regular Student Permit Stream applies to both primary, secondary and post-secondary students who did not meet one or more of the SDS requirements. The main difference between the SDS program and Regular Study Permit Stream is the processing time which is generally longer than 20 days and will vary depending on the volume of applications received by the visa office at the time of your application.
